Why Choose Musashi Swords? Check Out The Musashi Difference:
Hand Forged
Our Musashi line of samurai swords are hand forged by some of the most famous award winning sword smiths in China. Hand forged with either 1060, 1095 carbon steel or Damascus, whatever your choice, you will experience what a real samurai sword is all about. Featuring details such as a full tang blade, real hamon, real ray skin wrapped handle, Musashi swords can satisfy the most discriminating collector as well as practitioners alike. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang with a matching Certificate of Authenticity. Musashi is the official weapon of the United States Kempo Team and received the highest rating from Sword Buyers Guide. Also recommended by editor of Katsujinken Sword Arts Journal Magazine. Musashi swords are intricately hand crafted, razor sharp, and ready to cut. For collections, gifts, or straw mat cutting practice.
Blade
All Musashi blades are clay tempered and hand forged from start to finish. Each blade is numbered on the tang with a matching certificate of authenticity. The forge date is also etched on the tang as well as “Musashi” in kanji. Bo-hi, false edge, and several different styles of real hamon gives you a wide variety of selection when you choose your Musashi sword.
Steel Types: 1060 High Carbon Steel
Forge Method: Maru-Kitae
Musashi Swords start with nothing less than 1060 high carbon steel. Found primarily in our Musashi Silver Collection these swords offer a great compromise between strength and edge hardness. Not only are 1060 carbon steel swords able to hold an edge, its primary focus is its durability. Increased durability is used by incorporating traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel.
Steel Types: 1090, 1095, or T10 High Carbon Steels
Forge Method: Maru-Kitae
The Musashi Gold Collection starts with a minimal of 1090 high carbon steel and moves up to 1095, T10 as well as Damascus steels as bases for the hand forged blades. Forged using the traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel. High carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated thus making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. Every sword from our Gold Collection is clay tempered and full tang to make sure they will perform the way they were designed. Functionality, beauty, and value, our Musashi Gold Collection swords combines beautifully designed work of art with skillfully hand sharpened edges to give you a sword that is hard to beat.
Combines Two Steel Types: From 1060 High Carbon Steel up to T10
Forge Methods: Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae
The Musashi Platinum Collection combines two steel using either the Kobuse-Kitae method (combining two types of steels) or the Gomai-Kitae method (three layers two steels). 1095 carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. When combined with 1060 or even 1095 high carbon steel, this katana is a combination of the best of both worlds; keeping a keen edge while still maintaining its durability. Through the Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae forging methods our Musashi Platinum Collection swords combine a beautifully designed work of art with a skillfully sharp sword edge.
Steel Types: T10 or Tamahagane
Our toughest swords in the Musashi collection come from the Miyamoto Collection. These swords consist of either T10 steel or Tamahagane. T10 steel is a tungsten alloy steel that has an extremely high carbon content combined with a bit of silicon. This makes for an exceptionally hard blade that is impervious to scratches and abrasions. Tamahagane, literally translated means “jewel steel,” is one of the rarest materials used in katana forging. The forging process to create a sword using Tamahagane takes several months to years. Due to its difficulty each Tamahagane sword is as unique as the sword smith that created it and truly one of the must-have swords in any collection.
